Doon Rediscovered unfolds the realms of the historic town of Dehra Doon as it was before and after the arrival of the East India Company. After the Gurkha invasion, the entire region of Garhwal, Kumaon and Dehra Doon began to decay, till the advent of the British who, mesmerized by the Doon's idyllic beauty, even considered making it the capital of their Indian empire.

Under the British, the Doon economy began to thrive. Dr Royal, the superintendent of the Saharanpur Botanical Gardens, recommended the experiment of tea-cultivation. Silk trade flourished and the administrative acumen of F.J. Shore gave to Dehra Doon a network of canals and wells.

Since independence, the Doon has been through many changes. Yet its ability to enthral people from far and wide remains.
